Laundering your Linen - LinenBarn

Laundering your Linen

Caring for your gorgeous linen is surprisingly easy but does require a little love and care.

I highly recommend you tend to serious stains like sauce, vinaigrette, gravy, oil or wine immediately.  Cover the stain with table salt, corn starch or baking soda to absorb the sauce or the wine and leave it to sit for about 5 minutes before laundering on a lukewarm (20-300C) wash on delicate.

For detergent, I like to use Euca or Bosisto's (Australian brands) which is all natural and very gentle or soap nuts, which are also very gentle and can later be composted.

For white linen items with stains, feel free to dissolve 2 tablespoons of MiEco Oxygen Bleach (available at either www.mieco.com.au) or at Biome (www.Biome.com.au) in a glass dish with just-boiled water, stir well and add on top of the load in the drum, not the detergent drawer.  Add detergent as usual and once the cycle is complete, simply hang to dry.

For coloured linen, I recommend you dry in the earlier morning or afternoon sunshine, to prevent fading.  Even though our linens are properly processed, and fading is minimal, we all know how strong Australian sun can be! Either way, you’ll find your linen dries very quickly.

I don’t know about you, but there is nothing lovelier than linen dried outside for that fresh crisp feel!
